So sorry to hear about your stress and anxiety.
Yoga can definitely help with stress if practised regularly. If I were you I would find a gentle class that includes meditation or a guided relaxation at the end.
I think the key to using yoga for stress reduction is the focus on deep breathing and breath awareness. So take big, slow, deep breaths throughout your practice. Deep breathing has been shown to reduce heart rate and blood pressure, and is very effective for calming the mind.
