I don't know about eating a specific food, but stretching is surely the key. It would help before stretching to warm the muscle up a bit, with a short jog (round the block etc), then the stretch will work better to make your body flexible

I have read that lots of dark greens can have a positive effect on flexibility - spinach, brocolli, etc. Apparently it helps to keep your muscles, joints, etc. hydrated. So, lots of water, too, must be beneficial.
One thing I've found that is bad for flexibility is coffee. It just seems to make me less able to relax (which makes sense, since part of why I drink it is to be more alert!).
From a non-dietary point of view, I've found the best results coming from stretching gently, but for longer, as opposed to short bursts of over-stretching. So for example, getting into a posture that is comfortable, but you can feel a bit of stretch for a few minutes versus really pushing for a few seconds, or until you can't stand it any more.
